This breeding was a planned breeding, believe it or not. We were looking for a match that could improve in teat size and delineation and still maintain the style that Delaney had. We are convinced that it worked! We couldn't be happier with DeLila. She has gone 2x1st, 2x2nd, and 2xRGCH in 2008! We cannot WAIT to see what kind of an udder she will put on there!

Riot is a doe that we knew we HAD TO HAVE! We had admired Ariel since she was a kid on a visit to the Meyer's farm. I knew her and her sister were both something special. When the chance came to have an Ariel daughter, I couldn't pass it up. Riot has that "look" in her eye. We cannot WAIT to see her grow up and sock an udder on like her Mama's. Stay tuned!

While we would all like to pretend that our goats are perfect, we tried for several years to get the perfect kid out of Vanilla. Vanilla is very much an "old style" LaMancha doe, being a little shorter and squattier. She also does NOT have what we expect out of our animals in milk production, or in the other animals in her pedigree. It's just one of those goofy things. So, we were looking for size, scale, and milk -- who did we choose? Why, a Lydia son of course!!! With Rosemary on the other side of him with over a 3,000 lb. lactation, we are sure that we didn't go wrong. Vienna picked up size, openness and dairy character. She also has gone 4x1st, and 1xRGCH this year!!!

Sometimes, you can get the biggest surprises with animals. That is how our friends at Eastridge Farms were feeling when "Colors" was born this past winter. Notice anything funny in her pedigree? Yes, that is a PUREBRED Oberhasli! When two recessive genes get lined up -- anything can happen! Pictured below is another kid born of this same situation in a different herd. Humm.... I wonder what her kids will look like?!!?

This little doeling deserves for her story to be told. In November of 2007, Vivica and her twin Vavoom came into heat on the same day and were both bred to the same buck, their sire, Sorcerer. Both does were rounding out and showing signs of being bred, so when the clean-up buck was put in, we didn't feel the need to remove either of them. Much to our surprise, April came and went with only Vavoom kidding and Vivica showing no other signs of parturition. When we showed her in May, the judge asked if she was springing -- we replied with what we thought was an honest "no", and assumed that she was a little precocious.
As Vivica was coming into the milkroom everyday for grain, Christy noticed that she was getting a little portly and gave her belly a little "bump." To her surprise, she received a kick back in response! Six-weeks-later, Vivian joined the herd. Sometimes, the Lord just has a better plan.........
