Shanghai is in herself a legacy. I can not imagine, even for a moment where my herd would be without her. She is the daughter and granddaughter of does I showed in 4-H and FFA. She is the Lady in my life, and one of those animals that you miss before she is ever gone. She excels in General Appearance, and strength in feet and legs, as well as dairy character, and mammary system. She has many show wins including 4 BDIS, 6 GCH, 5 BOB, and 14 RGCH. I did NOT think that I would ever finish this doe, as several of her GCH and BDIS were at shows that did not sanction. She just gets more gorgeous the older that she gets. I finally have a daughter of hers in my herd, Shangrila, affectionately known as LaLa, who was born in 2007. No doelings out of Shanghai are planned to be available. I made the mistake of selling all of her doelings when things got tough for us and kept one from 2002 only to have her be a non-breeder.
Shanghai freshened for the 10th time this year as a 10 year old. The only thing that she slowed down on a bit was her milk production. This is the second year that she has had a single kid, but I do plan to rebreed her as long as she remains healthy and productive this fall.

CH Dreamhigh VL's Lady Lydia
03/11/2001 AA1188406 LA: 03-04 VEEV 88
Due: 29 March 2008 Bred to: Dynasty
Buck Kids: $350 Doe Kids: No Doelings Available
Lydia is another one of those goats that has the "wow" factor in my life. She is from a long line of homebred animals. She earned her Dry Leg in her first show out as a kid in 2001, and earned her 2nd leg as a Yearling Milker among tough competition at the ISDGA show in 2002. She finished her championship by going GCH at the Western Idaho Fair as a 3 year old in 2004, along with 3 RGCH earlier in the year. She excels in General Appearance, and no animal can come close to her in that area. Her coloring comes from her descent from her distant Saanen heritage. Some judges refer to her as cream, some as red, regardless of her color, she is simply fabulous. Her dam was my 1st Top Ten doe, and Lydia follows in her ability to make milk. Lydia did well as a Challenger in 2005 going 2nd twice behind some phenomenal does, and even placing ahead of Shanghai at the Western Idaho Fair -- all of this after aborting a month early.
Lydia had a very hard fall in 2007. Her kidney's had tried failing since late may and after several flare-ups, Lydia got mastitis at drying off. When the vet asked me what I really wanted him to do, I told him only to "help her die comfortably." With only the spirit that she possesses, she survived on an IV sewn into her neck for almost a week, changing her fluids every two hours. With Gangrenous mastitis, she had a partial mastectomy and made a full-recovery. With only half of an udder, she kidded in early April with a doe and a buck, and is still milking like a champ off of one side. Her doeling, Liela, is the only doe kid that I have from Lydia. We did collect semen out of her 2007 light cream buck kid, Loverboy.
Update: Lydia's maternal sister earned a spot at the Top Ten for a 305 day lactation of 5,700 lbs!!! We congratulate her sister Agatha and Agatha's owner Tracy Stampke on a job well done!

Vibrance is extremely special to me. She is a half-sister to Shanghai, a daughter of Elizabeth and paternally related to most of my greatest Alpines. Being in the same class as Lydia, and several of my other nicest does, it was often hard for Vibrance to compete, so I left her a Dry Yearling in 2002. She earned 2 RGCH as a Dry Yearling. As a 3 year old, she finally started to come into her own, taking 2nd behind Lydia. Vibrance is really continuing the family tradition as a seven-year-old. Just like the rest of her family, they just get better with age. She stands on a terrific set of feet and legs and has filled out her fore udder beautifully!

Dreamhigh VM Exubrance
02/18/2005 A1296259 LA:
Exubrance, who is affectionately known as Zub around here is doing well at carrying on her family's legacy. I was very disappointed when she originally freshened as a two-year-old, after her very successful career as a kid, and this made her often get overlooked, other then for her advantage of being a very good milker! When Darren's little Nigerian wether died due to disbudding complications, he had his choice of goats to replace her with. He chose Zub. I was a little dismayed as I had planned to send her onto a dairy that fall. Well, that option was off the table, so onto the show string she went. Taking home Best Udder of Breed Awards at both the Canyon County and Western Idaho Fair's 4-H/FFA Show, she was certainly showing her promise. Ironically, you will see Darren hovering around her when he was just a wee-one himself in the pictuer of her when she was a kid above.
Zub only freshened with a single buck kid in 2008, but is still putting it into the bucket. She is really maturing into a pretty three-year-old and we plan to take her out this show season!

Dreamhigh GB Blanc's Bazima
02/19/2005 AA1336153 LA:
Buck Kids: Doe Kids: 2nd Doeling $350
Bazima so closely resembles her mother, with the exception of her teats, that it is often eery. I am sure this comes from the linebreeding on Navarre. From the way she holds her head to her tremendous strength and body capacity, I couldn't be more proud of her. Unfortunately, she also has Blanc's feet and legs, but luckily, we made the right choices in breeding her, and those do not seem to be continuing through to her daughters. Bazima placed 3rd at the Dist 7 Alpine Specialty at Boise in 2008, amongst some stiff competition! This is a line of does who are only known to get better with age, so we are confident in what this lady will do!

Dreamhigh SV Vivica

Vivica and Vavoom, while having lots of similarities, are also very different. Being the "chunkier" and more body-capacity-type kid, and carrying the famous 'E.B. Family Wattles', she was an instant favorite, although Vavoom's personality of being more flamboyant often made Vivica get overlooked. These two girls were bred a day a part in the fall of 2007. Vivica was considered not to be bred and was shown as a Dry Yearling, earning a Reserve GCH in May at the ISDGA show. Surprisingly, she kidded with a Recorded Grade doe kid out of Timber*Cove H Kewl Cat on June 28th. She has a lovely mammary system and just oozes dairy character. It will be interesting to watch her bloom into a yearling milker.

Vavoom was a 4-H project in 2007 and did quite well, never getting to go out to an ADGA show. She has not disappointed us at all. She freshened with twin doelings and milks like a dream! Being shown four times so far in 2008, placing in the middle of her class each time out of HUGE classes of yearling milkers, and doing exceptionally well at the Dist 7 Alpine Specialty, we expect BIG things from this girl!

Lala was very long awaited for and is so closely resembling her mother in body-type, that we can't wait for her to grow up. We have left her a Dry Yearling for 2008, and are fairly certain that like most members of her family, we will have to be patient and wait some time for her to come into her own, but like those ladies before her -- we surely will NOT be disappointed.
